Bad Milo (2013) Unspoiled Film Review

There is no way to butter it up so here goes:

Bad Milo is a film about a VERY stressed man and the angry yet somehow disarmingly cute little monster that lives up his butt

I wanted to go see this in cinema, or at least when they were screening it at the Fright Fest in London last year(2014).

All I needed was one look at the little Milo beastie to know that yes, no bones about it, come hell or high water or rabid brain eating care bears - I was going to watch this.

Bad Milo is sometimes sweet, mostly uncomfortable and bloody but all entertaining.

Super (2010 Film) Unspoiled Review

I love weird movies and this is one of the more weird titles on my shelf.
Super is Kick ass's younger, less good looking, but far more sensitive younger brother and is all the better for it.

I don't like the office.
sorry I just don't - but that is not to say that I don't hold Rainn “i'm very very goofy but deeply sincere” Wilson in very high regard.

(If you haven't seen 'the Rocker' you need to it's filled to the brim with honest laughs - also Christina Applegate)

But enough of that you came here for
a Super review
- so lets soup dis ting! up up and away!
or should that be cinder blocks away?

And now for something completely different,
well that’s how Monty Python would put it.

And no I’m not wearing lingerie with suspenders as I type this. Only wear that when I edit, cold has a certain motivating quality unlike anything else.

Anyway.

I wanted to review this before Graham over at Stranger Views beat me to the punch.
You on the ball bastard you!
So ha!
I got there first!
Ha ha hahhahaha!
Me! Yes me!
Hee hee hoo hoo!

Okay enough of that on with the review

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014 film) Unspoiled Review

Originally I’d planned to review a very different film this week but in the light of recent news
(Sony about to bin director Marc Webb and reboot the franchise) I decided that there were some more pressing things that needed to be said.

As a lifelong spider-fan (check below for proof) I’ve always believed in the power of comic books. Peter Parker has in many many ways been the man on whom I have modelled my life. I respect him and what he represents both in and out of the suit. Peter is a real man, one who knows that he is flawed and goes on trying anyway.

I’m sad that this movie has received the barrage of hate that it has. I’m sorry to say that it seems no-one on the internet seems to have an idea of what they really want.
Haters gonna hate, I guess.

The Bigfoot Tapes (2013) Unspoiled Review

The power of my remote control is absolute. I wield it without remorse and thus most of my precious viewing time is spent watching things that I enjoy. I don’t often get conned out of my time but this film swindled me and I resent that.

Above the title on the DVD box is the following quote:

             ‘INTENSE.....ALMOST MADE
ME JUMP OUT OF MY SEAT’

I’m sure you already know which way this review is going. Like the man said : ALMOST

Fright Night (1985) Unspoiled Review

I wanted to end this inaugural Halloween at LittlePlasticCastle.com with a bang.
So, that said, I proudly present, my review of the as of yet unsurpassed original 1985 Fright Night.

I think that alongside Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus & Monster squad, Fright Night must be one of the definitive Halloween horror films.  (Well if you’re going for the Halloween vibe, not the stab, stab, death, horror, stab, run, slash, horror, death, death of other franchises)

The creature effects just smack of the 80’s ‘can do’ attitude, the dress sense is understandably awful, but I still love this movie.

Tucker & Dale Vs Evil (2010) Unspoiled Review

WARNING! STAY AWAY FROM ALL TRAILERS!
They SPOIL the film!

So again, keeping with the morbid October feeling,
I thought I’d review this relatively unknown gem.

                     Tucker & Dale Vs. EVIL!

When I first saw this film, it completely took me by surprise & I mean that in the best way possible. I have no idea how I came by it, even now as I really put my mind to picking out where I found it nothing comes to mind. Either way it fast tracked into my list of all purpose favourites.

Wes Craven's - They (2002) Film Review

What so often surprises me about stories is how they stay with you, little pieces slip into your consciousness and don't let go. Phrases whose origins you've long forgotten find a way back to their source. That moment of 'oh my!' when you realise that the 'ay yi yi' you've been saying for years came from that goofy robot who hung out with the original Power Rangers.
This film had a lot of those for me.

'They' (a Wes Craven film) opens to a little boy lying in bed who unsurprisingly, is afraid of the dark.
(I think this was the trend in the 2000's)

Hint : ‘the blanket over the head foetal position’ has never been scientifically proven to prevent monster attack.

Trick R Treat (2007) Film Review

To get in the mood, I am sitting in a dark room surrounded by yet to be carved pumpkins & nursing a mug of heavy black coffee to help get my nerves really fired up. As the single candle flickers, it remains to be seen if any of this was really a good idea.

As a proud owner of not just the DVD but also the comic book & a Sam POP! Vinyl figure - which the Mrs seems to tolerate me keeping on my bed side table.
One might say I’m a little bit of a fan. With that in mind I will try my best to keep this review objective and steer clear of the urge use my ‘eeek eeek it’s so cool it’s so cool’ fan-girl voice.

Odd Thomas - Film Review (2013)

Do yourself a favour, read this review while you’re making up your mind and then either go watch the film or just get on with your life.

If you choose to seek out this odd coloured treat then go straight to play, do not pass go, do not watch the trailer, you will be all the better for it. That now said, onto the review.

The film opens with a southern funk guitar riff that you can’t help but get in to, it feels like an old pair of jeans. A voice over from Odd Thomas (Anton Yelchin) brings us quickly up to speed on his ability to see the dead and the far less cuddly Bodachs which prowl unseen and hungry at our elbows. The tone takes a fast dark turn and we’re off into a fight scene chase sequence in which three things become very clear:
