I am going on record, these negative Hellboy reviews I've been reading/watching aren't just unfounded, they're also plain nasty.
I'm not sure where this trend of hating on it stems from exactly but what I can tell you is I grinned for the entirety of my viewing.
Ron Pearlman's Hellboy may have been the first, but this film is far far more loyal to core of the character and the world he lives in.
They manage to pack in a crapload of lore that serves the narrative.
Also, it's plain fun, like stupidly, wonderfully blood and viscera spackled fun. It's a horror fan's wet dream. Just go watch the thing, crack open a cold one, and enjoy smiling for fucksake.
We've recorded a proper review of the film with a breakdown and discussion over on Deadflicks, when it's up i'll link it here.
