Anyway, these trivial little happy's quickly add up, and before you know it you're in the habit of looking for things to be happy about.
I thought so too.
The real trick however, is consistency.
This post started as a way to catch up a weeks backlog of #100happydays posts but after closer inspection it turns out that I was more like a month behind.
So no surprise there.
Apparently, late is my thing.
(Melfka you have permission to snicker, childishly)
Thanks again to Joanna Maciejewska, Alayna Cole, Lucy Jayne, J.R.Barker & Meg Cowley for joining me for the 100happydays journey. It's been wonderfully encouraging to see your posts come through my feed everyday.
So enough with the mushiness and onward to the happies:
Signed up for Gishwhes, jury still out on whether that was a good idea or not, given the timing.
Either way am pretty excited.
Day #28 Thur (23 July)
no words written, none at all but I watched a few of those horror flicks that I refuse to subject wife to when she's around.
I don't think I've ever been this chuffed that it was Friday. No words written, no words edited but I did have pizza for supper. So there was that.
Also ice-cream, chocolate if you were wondering.
Day #30 Sat (25 July)
Spent most of day writing offsite. Love coffee shops. Also got to meet a bunch cool folks from my Gishwhes team AND picked wife up from train station.
Day #31 Sun (26 July)
Dee gone done brunged me all these amazing coffee's back from her trip.
My mornings just got a whole lot more interesting.
Writing Monday was awesome, sort of. Drank coffee, got sidetracked but ended adding up 2k to Broken Pumpkins. Also I think there may be something bigger in the pipeline some of these characters want to go places and do other things.
I'm of a mind to let them.
Also had a wicked soundtrack.
was a day, seriously the sun came up and well, that's kinda all I got.
I ate shortbread though and that helped, like a LOT.
Shortbread is best with tea if anyone out there is wondering.
Made a really big decision today and I'm REALLY happy about it.
This shit is stopping and I'm ending it.
Day #35 Thurs (30 July)
Listened to more of The Pilo Family Circus and loving how twisted it was.
Friday donuts at work. No wonder I've got a gut.
Day spent word-sprinting with @JosephAquilas also made big strides with the Broken Pumpkins edit.
Day #38 Sun (2 Aug)
Fantastic day out frolicking with friends, there were hot-dogs and milkshakes and also filmed item 187 for Gishwhes.
Gishwhes 2015 item 187 - Frolicking
VIDEO. Writer Elizabeth Meriwether describes a game called "Frolic" she and friends played while driving through Scotland. Anyone could yell out "Frolic!" at any time and they'd pull over the car and run up and down the hills. Inspired by her, host your own "Medieval Booty-Shake!" road trip in Scotland. Film a video of you and your friends, pulling over at any castle in the country, jumping out of the car, yelling that phrase, and doing just that. We must see the castle in the background. You can time-lapse if you wish but we must hear the phrase
Day #39 Mon (3 Aug)
Writing Monday pretty much fizzled, but I got some other stuff done. Bought a creepy doll at the charity shop, boy did they look at me weird.
Work was HELL. Came home and wife had cooked the most amazing meal,
I am so lucky to have her, truly truly blessed. Also we did some filming.
Edited item 98 for Gishwhes 2015 - here's how it turned out.
item #98 VIDEO - One of my favorite horror movies of all time is called "M is for Murder". Make your own horror movie trailer entitled, "X is for Xylophone". - CJ DeAngelus
Brother-in-law arrived for a visit, had a few breskis in the sun also met this devilish fellow.
Now I want to buy a place with gargoyles!
Some things are greater than others.
Day #44 Sat (8 Aug)
Had a chocolate orange cake at 'Once Apon a Tart' coffee there was
also super kick ass plus they had Mr. Electric bunny here.
Day #45 Sun (9 Aug)
The barista asked what my coffee's name was and this was the
first thing that came to mind.
He's not the messiah, he's a very naughty boy!
Got more or less caught up on Spider-Man comics, was nice to be read comics for a change. Forgot how much inner peace spending time with Peter gives me.
Day #47 Tues (11 Aug)
Actually made my first deadline for the whole of 2015, could really get used to this feeling. Can't believe I've been that ineffective this year. Really keen to see how the Awethology book turns out.
(Down with the Awethors - facebook group check them out if you're writerly inclined) .
Day #48 Wed (12 Aug)
It's official, Dead Reign is the BEST of the Marla Mason books so far. It was a compulsive pleasure thanks Tim Pratt for writing it - dude you rock! Have already download the next two books and am eating them like candy.
Day #49 Thurs (13 Aug)
Only 8 days until the new Disturbed album comes out, I can't believe it's been 5 years already.
#100happydays #Day50 I got immortalized in an #fp by the bottomless pit of awesome that is @melfka
#100happydays #day51 Went to Arisaig beach left #killjoycthulhu at home - he was NOT impressed @Melfka @LucyJayneB
You know how people say "I need that like I need another hole in the head"?
Yeah, well I don't say that any more.
Went into work instead of having a writing Monday. Getting ready to take a writing holiday next week. Can NOT wait - I need the time away.
Day #54 Tues (Aug 18)
card games and quantities of booze
I love Kickstarter, truly I do.
If you're not getting involved over there you really are missing out. There are so many wonderful folks making great things. The internet really is a wonderful place to "live"
There is no part of these instructions that I disagree with.
Considering feigning a learning disability to encourage more of said demonstrations.
New album out today - spent whole day dancing around like an idiot, but a happy idiot.
Great to be Disturbed with some new tunes again. I'm glad you're back boys!
Went out for coffee with my sister, it amazes me how much I miss talking to her.
Also we fed the birds - with brownies.
Day #59 Sun (Aug 23)
Went to drop brother-in-law off at airport, but got taken out to a very friendly breakfast first.
Was supposed to write today, but decided to take a me day instead.
I cleaned up my desk,
finished the Bride of Death (Marla Mason book 7),
read Zombie Tramp Vol.1 (yes, I'm a pervert but you are too - so you don't get to judge me)
and then spent the rest of the day playing The Stick of Truth (the new(ish) South Park game)
Clear sky, fresh air - it was nice to having to rush off to be at work so we took our time and got to spend some real time together on the walk.
