Concerning Broken Pumpkins, My Work in Progress

5/1/2016

I wanted to share this before it got lost in the flurry of the new year.
Been taking time in the mornings to reflect on things, ideas, writing and the like.
It's been good to come back to myself.
Also it may explain why I've been so quite lately. Two years in and more than 300 0000 words later, It's way past time to get serious.

#100HappyDays - A Backlog of Happies

18/8/2015

The idea of #100HappyDays is that you post something everyday that you are happy about. They call it happy but I think that grateful is probably the better word.
Anyway, these trivial little happy's quickly add up, and before you know it you're in the habit of looking for things to be happy about.
Simple?
I thought so too.
The real trick however, is consistency.
This post started as a way to catch up a weeks backlog of #100happydays posts but after closer inspection it turns out that I was more like a month behind.
So no surprise there.
Apparently, late is my thing.
(Melfka you have permission to snicker, childishly)
Thanks again to Joanna Maciejewska, Alayna Cole,  Lucy Jayne, J.R.Barker & Meg Cowley for joining me for the 100happydays journey. It's been wonderfully encouraging to see your posts come through my feed everyday.
So enough with the mushiness and onward to the happies:

My Most Un-Nano NaNoWriMo Ever

So, I've been 'away' for a while....sort of, kind of, not really.
Last month I signed up for CampNaNoWriMo,
cause I'm  stupid like that.
On some level I thought it was a good idea, I'd be editing  anyway and it would give me the chance to make some new friends, trade stories, toast marshmallows & go skinny dipping.
Turns out not so much, this time anyway, my fault of course.

Update 25 April 2015

25/4/2015

Yes I'm still here, despite all evidence to the contrary.
The book edit has been moving forward at a much slower pace than I'd hoped, I'm still learning what process works for me. There have been lots of other projects coming together all at once including a few shorts which I'll be publishing on Amazon, Smashwords, Kobo & iBooks (Links will follow) before too long. Very, very excited to reveal the covers.
Have been working on some other "ideas" with some really great artists but,
as I said before details and announcements will follow soon enough.
Hope you're all staying busy, you know idle hands, devils playground....that kind of thing.
Sorry got to go,
Master is calling.

Migrating interests

25/2/2015

I have many interests, lots, heaps, piles even.
Call it an addiction if you will and you will have some understanding
of the kind of ballpark we are playing in.

The thing is this, I have always consumed things.

When something perks my interest I hunt it down & kill it.

There is little that can stop me because to be completely frank - I can’t even stop me.
I will lie in bed at night and just let the little gremlins scrape around in there as they disassemble and reassemble my current obsession until they know it’s various pieces intimately just by the feel of the odd shapes of it's components.
I swear that isn’t as creepy as it sounds.
Okay maybe it is
a little.

Learning from Mistakes

I accidentally published this blog, two days early, it was not only scruffy and dishevelled but also unpolished.
The internet equivalent of leaving the house with your fly down and your dangly bits hanging out.

"Hey Martha have you seen how teeny tiny that fellows pee pee is? It's so cute! Like a little jelly bean I tell ya, you really should have a giggle at it before he realises and puts it away!"

So like I said.
Mistakes.
I make them.
Or they make me, I'm open to that too.

Now for a quote......

My first year in Ink

February first was a big day for me.

It marks the first year of my commitment to create art with words or use words to create art if you’re the picky type.

I aim to please.

Well sometimes anyway.

The plan was to try and write a novel in November, but by Jan 4th realised I couldn't wait that long to start.

So start, I did.

Looking forward - 09/12/2014

After the last few months of pretty much making this blog thing up as I went along I think I'm starting to find a rhythm - or at least it feels like the ratio of 'make stuff up' to that of 'fudge the numbers when necessary' has taken a different turn.

So with November dead like disco and the end of 2014 flying towards me like a nuclear fuelled bald spot seeking missile, I thought now would be a good time to take stock.

#NanowriMovember Day #18 - Check in

Wtf is NanowriMovember? Click here for the low down

So as at the time of writing this I am a little before the 30k mark and feeling optimistic - at least I hope this is what optimism feels like.
If it isn't I might need to talk to someone about medication.

So far it's been a very different journey from my July Camp Nanowrimo experience.
First off, life has conspired at every point along the way to stymie my efforts at a win. During July I had the good fortune of a week off to help me get ahead
(although truth be told my time usage was anything but effective) This time around lets just say that i've had to get a little more creative.

My Absent Other

Blogs will be a little shorter than usual this month. By the time November closes (although the optimist in me is hoping for sooner) I want to have earned my Nanowrimo winners tee which I
pre-ordered in a fit of enthusiasm on Oct 28th.
Chicken counting anyone? No? Just me? Well okay then - Onwards to the post!

So, Lady Pilgrim has been away for the last week, the first of two. She is presently residing in an undisclosed location where her brain is being systematically filled with all kinds of wondrous new things.

To a dog watching his dinner bowl time a minute might as well be forever. The same for a kid looking forward to Christmas -  these two weeks might as well be eternity.
