Ghost Stories Review
Myk Pilgrim is a horror writer, or at least that's what he likes to tell people.
He lives in a town just north of the wall, where he spends his time sharing cappuccinos with his inner demons, binge watching horror movies with his equally demented writing partner and significant other Pippa Bailey,
shaving his head, annoying the locals, and generally just counting down the days until Halloween.
Also, sometimes, he writes stuff.
29th June 2019
Myk rambles on about the story he's working on, for the thing he can't announce.
It's a bout a cat.
11th June 2019
In which Pilgrim is not feeling very well, and makes some listening suggestions that have kept his medication addled mind busy during the down time.
6th June 2019
Myk and Pip talk about their horror origins; what inspired them to read, watch, and create horror content of their own. Delving into Goosebumps books by R. L Stein, Terminator 2, and other horror influences from their childhoods.
9th May 2019
Myk and Pip watch the brilliant Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde from 1912.
For those with a sensitive disposition, for those who change after one strong drink, and those who find themselves wondering around in the squat position whilst bothering the locals, poking children with sticks, and generally being a twisted pain in the ass, then this movie is definitely for you. Beware... There may be one or two emo fringes shown sporadically throughout the movie, but we think you can handle it. Good luck!

Bloody Stockings: Bite-sized Horror for Christmas
Yule is somehow a far more sinister time, and in Bloody Stockings, the chill has fully set in.
Between these blood soaked pages you'll find
a less than conventional advent calendar,
Hobos that smell like seasonal cake,
dodgy gifts from Uncle Nelson,
what lurks in the spaces between the tolling of the church bells, flaming turkeys,
humbugs looking for a place to nest,
and an Elvis impersonator with a wardrobe malfunction to end all wardrobe malfunctions.
So, sit down in front of the fire with the ones you love the most (and your family too), gorge yourself on mince pies, guzzle down all the eggnog you like (remember it’s 150% organic), and enjoy our ode to the second most wonderful time of the year.

So far (and defiance of expectation) I've been managing to keep up with the weekly vlogs. I'd say that they're getting easier (and that would be true) but as I get more savvy (I use that word loosely, very loosely) they are getting a little harder too.
Oh brain gremlins, how ever do I put up with you.

New Blog post: Goodbye Old Plank (& video tour of my old writing desk)
6th May 2016
Before any more time passes or anything else goes off the rails I would like to make a long overdue induction into the League of Imaginary Friends.
The lady in question is a wonderfully sick-minded bird, who is sharper than a fist strapped with razor blades and more twisted than a corkscrew factory floor.
You can read her blog which updates with sickeningly efficiency or pick up her Sci-fi novellas that comprise Clara's Creep Mesquite Anthology while you wait for her forthcoming adult novel Cleanerman (due out later in 2016)
So without further waffling or fanfare, I present to you the newest addition to the League;
Wild woman of the wolves, breeder of words, completer of projects and all round awesome person:
Arise Lady Clara!
Now back to your desk! You've got books to write!

Short story long, folks from all over the world get together to write.
You can set your own wordcount goal (mine is 30k this month although in November 50K is compulsory)
It's been interesting so far, in taking the time to talk to myself I've learned a lot about my process and what's more I have a way to look back on the train wreck that was my April because - this is the black box.
So come on in and join me for the ride, have linked the playlist below!

Two drabbles (100 word stories) in the 2015 FWG drabble collection:
Frightful Tales for All Hallows' Eve
and three shorts in Zen of the Dead. (My story "Sleeping Oaks" which opens the collection.) Ain't gonna change the universe but gosh darn it made me happy. Check them out if you're feeling the post Halloween depression.

October has been an amazing and terrifyingly busy month so far.
LittlePlasticCastle.com turned one! - I know right?
I couldn't believe it either.
I've had shoes that haven't even lasted that long!
Had my short story 'Dave' published in Awethology Dark.
A book which is considered to be the deformed, lecherous and evil twin of it's much softer more feathery sibling the Awethology Light anthology.
49 original stories from as many authors spread across two volumes & did I mention that you can pick up both right now - and for FREE?
All links below!
Never say uncle Myk never does anything for ya.
Happy Halloween kiddies!

It was suggested (threatened at knife-point) by Lucy Jayne (don't worry it was a plastic knife) that I should post this here cute flying piggy video on the site so that it may be consumed by the masses.
Or just the folks who got lost on their way home from Facebook.

Just posted my first blog post in nearly three months and it feels awesome.
I really do use that word a lot.
Should probably get that looked at.
Anyway here's the link to the new post: A Backlog of Happies
15 July 2015
Been meaning to post an update for about a month now and every time I get all set, the internet conks out. I've even gone as far as to type up, edit, click publish and well, let's just say that it didn't work out so good.
Have been pretty much balls to the wall otherwise.
Been working on a few short audio fiction stories which will be available to the crazy nuts who join the little plastic mailing list (link here when it goes live)
Otherwise, I'm well into revisions for Broken Pumpkins, getting covers all plotted, preparing a few other projects for publication, I even got my first professional edit done. Surprisingly it wasn't even nearly as traumatic as I thought it was going to be.
There has also been a very secretly secret project which is in fact so very secret that not even I'm fully aware of what it is.....more on that later.
25 April 2015
Yes I'm still here, despite all evidence to the contrary. The book edit has been moving forward at a much slower pace than I'd hoped, I'm still learning what process works for me. There have been lots of other projects coming together all at once including a few shorts which I'll be publishing on Amazon, Smashwords, Kobo & iBooks before too long.
Very, very excited to reveal the covers.
Have been working on some other "ideas" with some really great artists but as I said before details and announcements will follow soon-ish.
22 March 2015
Apologies to anyone whose been waiting on new posts.
I haven't been quite as on the ball as I would have liked to believe I was.
For the past month blog posts have been almost non existent, and reviews, well let's not open that can of worms shall we?
Took a week off of work work to get try and get a grip on the size of my first large scale edit. During that week I learnt a few things. The first being that I have a Twitter addiction, the second, there are a one hell of a lot of words and only one of me. Mind crippling, cold sweat inducing odds of 220 000 to 1.
So to counteract, I've begun learning how to stack the deck in my favour.
Regimented time management, divide and conquer, that kind of stuff.
Blogs will continue to be sporadic at best until the end of April (He says with hope in his heart) but I will be posting snippets of my current
Work in progress which will be equal parts amusing, horrific and touching.
Although I'm not promising in that order!
Click on the warning sign to check them out.

I'm now an author on Goodreads!
Come on over say hi, you can mock me for the drivel that I enjoy reading in my scant free time. It's a hell of a community over there. Starting to wish that days were at least 12 hours longer, could pack in a third more awesomeness in my 'routine'.

And Disquis is down for the count!
The Weebly commenting system still sucks but it sucks less ( if only a little less) than Disquis. So there you have it folks, Weebly the winner of the comment board deathmatch. Talk about anti-climactic.
4th February 2015
Apologies to all you wonderful people who have commented on the Blog. After more than one complaint about the native weebly commenting system have decided to give Disquis a try.
If you like it please say so.
If not, say so too.
There will probably be a fight to the death.
At least i'm hoping there will be.

Arise, Mad @Melfka!
29th January 2015
I've been with wrestling with myself over this for a while and have made a decision. I love writing Reviews every week but the thing is they seem to be taking precedence over the actual stuff that will move my real projects forward. I'm always using reviews as the excuse to not be doing the one thing that I should be doing. I could get more organised, but the truth is, it's still time not spent on submissions, book editing sessions and the actual downtime that I need to sharpen my mental saw.
It feels like it's only a matter of time before I begin to resent them for it and they begin to feel like work instead of a labour of love.
I'd rather break up now while we still love each other instead of later when the hatred of compulsion has started to seep in and colour the experience of writing them. So, to get to the point, from here on out Unspoiled Reviews will be posted every other week. (Next week being the 'Other')
Now if you'ill excuse me I've got some writing to do!
17th January 2015
Computer has returned from exile, so I'm back to work editing the book and also working on various other short stories for submission. Am most excited about a story which for the moment have been referring to as 'The Lot'.
It's not what you think - I promise.
Otherwise have been playing with other stories which seem to have the unified theme of ships and sailing. I can smell a new world coming on, salty air, moonlight and very very big fish. One word hint: Barblewhale
1st January 2015
Happy new year! There I said it, now let us onward into the madness of 2015 to find more words, ink more stories and kill many many many more darlings with this here savage red pen.
11th December 2014
Am editing at the moment, wildly wielding a red pen in one hand, a machete in the other (known as 'panga' if you come from the African continent).
Also finishing up some long standing promises in the form of beta reading
and trying to run off the gut I developed during the highly concentrated beer/chocolate/shortbread/cake/burger/milkshake/choc fudge sundae indulgences of Nanowrimo.
Run chunky boy run! Edit chunky boy edit!

Synopsis of Nanowrimo novel via LittlePlastiCastle at NaNoWriMo
Tim hates his life, he has a family that loves him, a talented older brother who has always has his back, a sister who despite the obligatory insults does cover for him and a mother who cooks his favourite meal specially for him every Thursday night.
It's just a million shades of suck.
But Tim is going to change all that, the world will know his name, they will fear him, desire him, cower before his might. He will bend the gibbering inhuman abomination in the basement to his will, he'ill sacrifice a virgin to raise the ancient ones from their waking slumber, he will become his true self - the high priest of the great old ones.
First though he must get to work, the drive through won't run itself, maybe he'ill put up an advert during his lunch break and see if he can find members for his cult.
November 5th 2014
So after one hell of a crazy (and I DO mean crazy) week have started slowly chipping away at my Nanowrimo word count - see evidence in the side panel.
Movember has been just about as slow other than the spiky caterpillar of 4 day growth creeping in beneath my nose. Still at that silly stage.
Check out Movember & NaNoWriMo 2014 for more updates. Also remember to remember the 5th of November lest it also be forgot
enjoy the fireworks everyone!

Well here it is! the site is up, the leaves outside are changing to countless shades of amber. The year is flying into that fantastic time of year when monsters of all types prowl from door to door in search of free sweets,
I'm told that sometimes they even bring their kids along too.
A quick thank you to everyone who has helped me to put this site together,
be that with beta reading, idea input or just putting up with me while I've talked/tweeted/written/raved about little else over the last few months
- again thank you!
