At the tail end of last year (2015) I said to myself:
“Self, you need to watch more horror movies.”
So that’s what I did.
I set a goodreads-style goal of 1 horror flick per which would total 52 for the 2016
- as it turned out though my final viewing total (not including tv shows) was 94.
*pats self on back*
So here follows the full list of the blood soaked perversion I funnelled through my eyeholes in 2016.
I wanted to share this before it got lost in the flurry of the new year.
Been taking time in the mornings to reflect on things, ideas, writing and the like.
It's been good to come back to myself.
Also it may explain why I've been so quite lately. Two years in and more than 300 0000 words later, It's way past time to get serious.
25th December 2015
Merry Christmas everyone!
Hope you're feeling festive even if you're not celebrating.
Thank you everyone for a truly wonderful year, here's to really big things for all of us in 2016.
The idea of #100HappyDays is that you post something everyday that you are happy about. They call it happy but I think that grateful is probably the better word.
Anyway, these trivial little happy's quickly add up, and before you know it you're in the habit of looking for things to be happy about.
I thought so too.
The real trick however, is consistency.
This post started as a way to catch up a weeks backlog of #100happydays posts but after closer inspection it turns out that I was more like a month behind.
So no surprise there.
Apparently, late is my thing.
(Melfka you have permission to snicker, childishly)
Thanks again to Joanna Maciejewska, Alayna Cole, Lucy Jayne, J.R.Barker & Meg Cowley for joining me for the 100happydays journey. It's been wonderfully encouraging to see your posts come through my feed everyday.
So enough with the mushiness and onward to the happies:
Been meaning to post an update for about a month now and every time I get all set, the internet conks out. I've even gone as far as to type up, edit, click publish and well, let's just say that it didn't work out so good.
Have been pretty much balls to the wall otherwise.
Been working on a few short audio fiction stories which will be available to the crazy nuts who join the little plastic mailing list (link here when it goes live)
Otherwise, I'm well into revisions for Broken Pumpkins, getting covers all plotted, preparing a few other projects for publication, I even got my first professional edit done.
Surprisingly it wasn't even nearly as traumatic as I thought it was going to be.
There has also been a very secretly secret project which is in fact so very secret that not even I'm fully aware of what it is.....more on that later.
So, I've been 'away' for a while....sort of, kind of, not really.
Last month I signed up for CampNaNoWriMo,
cause I'm stupid like that.
On some level I thought it was a good idea, I'd be editing anyway and it would give me the chance to make some new friends, trade stories, toast marshmallows & go skinny dipping.
Turns out not so much, this time anyway, my fault of course.
Thank you Joanna 'Mad one' Maciejewska for tagging me me in the Liebster Award Blog Hop a couple of weeks back.
okay it was months.
happy now? Happy?!
anyway, moving on
so, punctual as ever, here I is.
First off, here be the rules:
Yes I'm still here, despite all evidence to the contrary.
The book edit has been moving forward at a much slower pace than I'd hoped, I'm still learning what process works for me. There have been lots of other projects coming together all at once including a few shorts which I'll be publishing on Amazon, Smashwords, Kobo & iBooks (Links will follow) before too long. Very, very excited to reveal the covers.
Have been working on some other "ideas" with some really great artists but,
as I said before details and announcements will follow soon enough.
Hope you're all staying busy, you know idle hands, devils playground....that kind of thing.
Sorry got to go,
Master is calling.
I have many interests, lots, heaps, piles even.
Call it an addiction if you will and you will have some understanding
of the kind of ballpark we are playing in.
The thing is this, I have always consumed things.
When something perks my interest I hunt it down & kill it.
There is little that can stop me because to be completely frank - I can’t even stop me.
I will lie in bed at night and just let the little gremlins scrape around in there as they disassemble and reassemble my current obsession until they know it’s various pieces intimately just by the feel of the odd shapes of it's components.
I swear that isn’t as creepy as it sounds.
Okay maybe it is
When I pulled the mangled thing out of the backpack, my first thought was
Myk Pilgrim is almost exactly just like you but with much less hair. He loves to make things up and write them down. This is his blog.
